The CSTA has published the 2021 Container Self-Storage Census - the first Report of activity data and business insight in this industry sector.
Census 21 is part of the Association’s efforts to recognise the growing economic performance and professionalism of the container self-storage industry.
Focusing on Container Self-Storage Businesses operating within the United Kingdom, the Census reveals that, at the end of 2021, there are 572 companies in the UK operating some 978 container self-storage sites – an increase of 35 over the previous year. Occupancy levels have generally remained very high during the pandemic.
Reference in the Census is made to the Environmental Performance of Container Self-Storage Sites, as well as issues such as Container availability and the growth in the provisional of additional services for customers. There are also graphs and data covering industry trends relating to the number of containers used for self-storage, the space that they provide, occupancy retention levels, rental rates and container pricing.
The data in the Census has relied on industry feedback and responses to questionnaires. The CSTA welcomes and encourages comments about the Report, and we will collate feedback into the planned CSTA Census 2022.
